Citizens for Justice Options (CJO)

Citizens for Justice Options (CJO), a League coalition community committee started in 2000, is still at it. We are proud of the fact that we have brought information and advocacy to help accomplish the following: a type of Domestic Violence Treatment Court, establish the Drug Court, on the brink of having a Mental Health Court, and the developing Criminal Justice Coordinating Council. The major work of the CJO at this time is watching and trying to encourage the work of the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council (CJCC) and its committees. CJO members believe the CJCC is our best hope for greatly improved justice activities that will include less jail and more treatment with fewer people returning to crime.

CJO meets at least once every three months before the CJCC quarterly meeting but usually more often. Those interested in justice issues are always welcome. Contact Carol A. Reitan at cjo@lwvmclean.org or Barbara Stuart, Co-Chairs of CJO.
