Beginning in 2014, we're offering Member Orientations in the Fall and Spring. The Orientation is designed t`o introduce members to each other in a small setting and engage in dialog with League Board members to de-mystify "How League works." What's a study versus a program? Tours of McLean County Jail & Juvenile Detention Center

The League is offering tours of the McLean County Jail and the Juvenile Detention Center. The tours are limited to the first 40 people who sign up for them. Each tour will take about an hour. Sheriff Mike Emery will lead the jail tour (9:00 to 10:00) and Superintendent Cathy Jo Waltz will lead the tour of the juvenile detention center (10:30 to 11:30). Following the tours, all participants will receive a box lunch and convene to discuss the tours and the information we’ve received.

Beause each tour is limited, it is necessary to make reservations with Laurie Bergner. Please call her at 309-454-3113 or e-mail her to get more information and to make your reservation.

Hidden McLean County:
Developmental Disabilities and Formerly Incarcerated Women

This is a continuation of the League's annual presentation of "Hidden McLean County." This year’s program will cover individuals with developmental disabilities who get services from MarcFirst and women who were formerly incarcerated, who are getting help through Labyrinth. As always, we will have providers to describe the services offered to each of these groups, as well as individuals who will personally describe their experiences as members of these groups.

The format is an informal gathering for 1 hour, four times a year, after work, in a place that serves drinks (everyone pays for their own refreshments) to discuss a topic of interest.   A League member or invited guest will start the discussion off with 5 to 8 minutes of opening comments and then those showing up can contribute with questions, opinions, and ideas.
